「フレンズ」と比べると、時間あたりの会話の密度が小さい気がします。
ちょっと効率が悪いです。

でも、医学に関する英語も勉強したいし。
難しいところです。

日本語の題名「誤診」は、以下のことから名付けたと思います。
Dr.ベントンがA-Fバイパス後の腹痛に対し血管造影をしようとしたところ、かかりつけ医が尿路感染と診断し血管造影を行いませんでした。
すると、その夜、その患者は腸管破裂で救急搬送されました。
僕自身も昔、SMA血栓症の患者を経験しているだけに、リアルでした。

iPOD touchで電車通勤の間に英語学習をしています。
「フレンズ」ファースト・シーズンが終わったので、次は「ER 救急救命室」ファースト・シーズンにしようと思います。

「フレンズ」を続けるのもよいのですが、「ER 救急救命室」と各シーズンごとに交互に勉強します。

「ER 救急救命室」の長所
・　医療に必要な英語をリスニングできる
・　「フレンズ」のアメリカ人にしかわからないドラマネタなどがない
・　アメリカの医学・医療がわかる
・　救急がなつかしく、ドラマのERドクターがかっこよく、アドレナリンが出る


「ER 救急救命室」の短所
・　スクリプトが見つからない
ネットでいろいろ探していますが・・・
・　意味をしっかり説明しているサイトが見つからない
「フレンズ」におけるシットコムで笑え！ 海外ドラマ「フレンズ」英語攻略ガイドのようなサイトがあればなあ・・・

第1話を見てみましたが、非常によく出来ています。
医師の目から見ても、日米での医学教育・医療の差以外は全く違和感がありません。
気管内挿管のシーンなどもとてもリアルです。

日米での医学教育・医療の差ですが、いくつか気付きました。
・　アメリカの医師はすべて口頭で指示していて、「指示簿」なんてありません
・　学生もDrと言われ、実際の医療を行っている
・　銃創やギャングがよく出てくる

1週間に2話ずつ（約90分）勉強していきます。
それでも13週間（3か月半）かかるので、2009年3月末まで「ER 救急救命室」ファースト・シーズンに悪戦苦闘します。

わからない単語は、日本語訳をTextファイルにして何度か見て覚えます。
ただ、スクリプトが入手できていないので字幕を見ながら、わからない単語を書き写すということになるかも知れません

「フレンズ」のファーストシーズンの学習が終了しました。
最初のうちは、１週間に１話ずつの学習でしたが、途中から１週間に２話ずつにペースアップしました。
ファーストシーズンだけで、約４か月かかりました。

今回、過去の単語帳を見返してみて、英々辞典で調べて書いたものは、ぱっと見て分からずあまりよくないですね。
日本語訳を書いた方が、記憶に残りやすいように思いました。

最近読んだ英語勉強法の本に感化されました。
精進すれば大迫力！: シンプルだけど王道 「村上式シンプル英語勉強法」（村上憲郎）

つまるところ「英語力＝単語力」なのではないか。
大学受験時代は、確かにそのように信じていました。
「村上式」の通り単語を眺めていただけでテストのとき単語がわかるようになり、ぐんぐん英語の成績が上がったのを覚えています。

しかし、社会人になって今さら単語帳なんてという思いもあり、単語の集中トレーニングはしてきませんでした。

文章と一緒に単語を覚えようという取り組みはしてきましたが、やはりそれでは文章に重点がおかれ単語力増強には弱い気がしています。
精進すれば大迫力！: TOEICテスト完成ボキャブラリー （野村展子）
精進すれば大迫力！: TOEICテスト基本ボキャブラリー （野呂健, 野村展子 ）
精進すれば大迫力！: TOEFLテスト基本ボキャブラリー2000語（仲本浩喜）

そこで、めんどくさがらずここはちゃんと単語の集中トレーニングをしてみようと思います。
まずは、「村上式」で紹介されていた「英単語ピーナツ」の「金」「銀」「銅」を毎日の通勤時間中に眺めようと思います。

これらの本は、1冊に2語の単語のピーナッツが777個載っています。
「金」「銀」「銅」のすべてを眺めると777個/冊x3冊=2331個
よって、約5000語の単語を眺めることになります。

iPOD touchでのフレンズも続けますが、メインは単語にしてみます。

米グーグル副社長であり、日本法人社長である村上憲郎さんの英語勉強法です。
「シンプル」と付いている通り非常にシンプルですが、具体的数値目標を示してあり、説得力のある内容です。

一言で言うと、「筋トレ式英語勉強法」です。
どこを鍛えているか意識して語力を鍛えるというのに、目から鱗でした。
あと、語力は単語力、それをまず鍛えようと思いました。

英語は、2台目の自転車

フレンズ I ― ファースト・シーズン DVD セット vol.1

7話は、何回見てもふき出しそうになります。
チャンドラーが自分が吐き捨てたと思ったガムを口に入れ、他人の捨てたガムだとわかった後、そのガムで窒息しそうになるシーンです。

このドラマに出ている6人とも演技がとても上手だと思います。
ロスがパウロの口真似をするシーンのロスの顔など顔の細かい表情が抜群です。

7話は、最初の字幕なしで結構聞き取れた気がします。
といっても、20%ぐらいでしょうが。

ちなみに、チャンドラーと一緒にATMに閉じ込められるJill Goodacreは本人で90年代のモデルです。

フレンズ I ― ファースト・シーズン DVD セット vol.1

第6話に入りました。
最初のジョーイの劇でふと気付いたのですが、劇の終了時には明らかに客が減っています。
こういう細かいところまで見逃せないドラマです。

ジョーイがアルパチーノの映画のケツ役で出ると決まったときのチャンドラーの「crack your way into showbuisiness」とロスの「you gonna invite us all to the big opening?」で、観客がなぜどっと笑うのか分からなかったのですが、http://blogs.dion.ne.jp/friends_english/archives/1444401.htmlでRachさんの解説を読んで納得しました。
チャンドラーの「crack」「芸能界に割って入り込む」と「お尻の割れ目」をかけて、さらにその次のロスの「opening」が「映画の初演」と「お尻の穴」をかけていたのですね。
奥が深いです。

オーロラ役は、ソフィア・ミロスです。
